Do Cats Like Strollers?
First of all you might be thinking “Do cats even like these things?”. Like with anything travel related your cat may like to ride in one of these but they might have to get use to being in one first. Give it a couple of weeks and if they still don’t like it then I wouldn’t push the issue any further.
In fact your cat might even nag you to take them out in one. It just depends on what type of cat your have and what their personality is.
Why Get A Cat Stroller?
If you’re the type of person that would rather walk your cat in a stroller and not go through the trouble of teaching them how to walk on a harness or maybe your cat just doesn’t do good with walking, getting a stroller would be a good option for them.
Benefits Of A Cat Stroller
These strollers are also really good for cats that just had surgery or if they have arthritis and you want them to get some fresh air. Some of them are also really good for traveling really long distances as well since the wheels make it easier to move them around.
For instance, if you are going across the country or international travel. You also don’t want to go cheap with these things either. The reason why I say this is because if you get a lower quality one they tend to fall apart and they don’t really last long.
There are some that have good ratings but most of them will have 4 stars or under. I’ve done a good amount of research and these are some of the best ones that you can get in my opinion.
Some Things to Consider
Comfort
Before you get a pet stroller you should make sure that the stroller is as comfortable as possible for your cat or cats. When they are inside of the stroller your cat should be able to stand, sit and stretch if they need to.
Type Of Stroller: Which One is Right For You?
Another factor you should consider is the type of wheels your stroller has. If you are on pavement this isn’t something that isn’t worth paying attention to. However, if you are going on more rocky terrain you should have a stroller with bigger wheels on it so it won’t be hard to push.
If you have a bike you could also get a bike trailer if you for some reason want to bring along more than two cats. These allow you to go on bike rides with your cat and certain models double as a stroller when you don’t feel like biking. You can find information on these at my article here “Best Bike Trailers For Cats That I’ve Come Across“.
Height and Weight
You should also factor in the weight and height of the stroller. You don’t want it to be too heavy or too tall other wise it won’t be comfortable to move around when you are using it.
Safety
You also want to make sure the stroller has proper ventilation since you don’t want your cat or cats to get too hot. You should also make sure that your cat can’t break out of the stroller by messing with the zippers. you can get zipper locks if you are concerned about this.
Assembly
If putting things together gives you a massive headache you should probably check to see whether you have to do this or not as some strollers come pre assembled and can save you a lot of time.
Get A Removable Pad/Lining
Your cat might end up doing a number one or two in the stroller so getting one of these will save you a lot of time cleaning everything up.
1. BestPet Dog/Cat Stroller
Out of all the strollers that I have used this one is the best in terms of design and its very well priced compared to other strollers. This one is more of a different design but its on the slightly cheaper end and its pretty good for the price too. It has a larger space on the bottom and then a smaller one on the top so this would work if you have a cat and maybe want to bring a bigger dog or cat along. When I unboxed it I had no problem setting it up and it only took me couple of minutes like most of the other strollers that I have used.
When I was using this stroller I really liked the wheels on this one as they are good for rougher terrain. The brakes also work very well and I like the handle and the ability to put your drinks in it as well. I also like how it has privacy covers which can be beneficial for nervous cats. 2. Lucky Tree Twin Double Pet Stroller
This is a very durable option with three colors to choose from and it even has air vents to keep your cat cooler during the hotter days of walking. When I unboxed this stroller my initial reaction to this was it was very high quality and didn’t feel cheap like some of the strollers that I used.
Very similar to the Paw & Pals Stroller actually. The breaks work very well and it feel very smooth when it is in use and I like the way that the handle feels too but it could be more comfortable. Like most of these strollers it also folds up too. You can click here to check the current pricing on amazon.
3. Pet Gear No-Zip NV Pet Stroller
If you want something more compact you could go with an option like this one here. It may be small and technically not a double stroller but it can hold two 10 pound cats and can hold up to 70 pounds of weight at once. I put this one on the list not only for its great quality but also because it has better wheels for more rougher terrain which some of these other strollers cannot handle. The mesh on this stroller is also great for hotter days as its on the top cover.
I also liked how there was drink holders on the top that I could put my water bottles in and they do a great job at holding them in place. This stroller also fixes the problem that I have with the uncomfortable handle I’m not the hugest fan of. Only con with this stroller is that its on the more expensive side but I think its worth it if you want to move over rougher terrain as typical stroller cannot do. 4. HPZ Pet Rover Premium Heavy Duty Dog/Cat/Pet Stroller
This is another nice option thats similar to the Pet Gear stroller but the wheels are slightly smaller, has a slightly different design and will fit two cats. Its also foldable too so when you don’t need it anymore you can store it somewhere such as a closet. What’s nice about this one is that it has a front step so your cat has an easier time getting into the stroller and you don’t have to pick them up to put them in and the top is removable so you can give your cat more air. I also had a very easy time setting this stroller up when I unboxed it.
It also has three accessory bags, one under-basket and a bottle holder which can be really useful for things like travel and shopping. This stroller also handles terrain quite well even the very rock rough kinds. I’m not particularly a fan of the material at the bottom of the front wheels and gives it somewhat of a cheap look but I still like this stroller nonetheless. 5. Paws & Pals Twin Double Folding Dog & Cat Stroller
This is another stroller that I really liked testing out. Its got a side by side design and has mesh windows that allow your pet to see whats outside without being really hot or being rained on as it has sun shielding and rain proof materials. Its also foldable.
It also has rear security brakes and seat belts which are really nice things to have on pet strollers. When you’re done with it you can easily fold it up and store it somewhere. When I used this stroller with my cats it was easy to set up and when I got it outside it moved very smoothly on any terrain I moved it on – smooth terrain that is.
The brakes also work very well and didn’t really give me a problem either. The material is also very nice as well and seems like it will last a long time and there is a lot of pockets that you can put things in. The only thing I don’t like about this stroller is its slightly pricey but its worth the investment if you want quality and the handle could be more comfortable. 6. Kinsuite Pet Stroller
Here is another really nice stroller from Kinsuite. Its made out of oxford fabric and Aluminum and you can actually detach the two spaces and use the two of them as seperate carriers which have straps on them as well. The wheels awere also really nice when I used this stroller and moved quite well on any terrain that I used it on. Didn’t have any problems using the brakes either.
I also like that there is a lot of mesh so my cats stay cool and they have more space to look around. The handle also feels quite nice in the hand but unfortunately you can’t put your drinks anywhere with this one but it does fold up when you are done with it however. 7. Vilobos Double Decker 2-in-1 Pet Stroller
This stroller is a particularly good choice because its not only a double stroller but you could fit more than two cats witht his design. The carriers are also detachable so you can use them as cat carriers which is very useful if you like traveling a lot. When I unboxed it I had no problems setting it up and it was a pleasure to use.
It moved like it was supposed to, the brakes worked very well and I like the feel of the handle as well. It also folds which was easy to do. The only thing I don’t like with this stroller is where the smaller carrier sits and how its so spaced from other one. I also don’t like how small it is but it might be useful in your case for example if you have kittens. Click here to check the current price on amazon.
8. ibiyaya Double Decker Bus Dog & Cat Stroller
Ibiyaya makes some of the best pet products you can get so it only makes sense to add them on the list here. Its got a very big carrier on the bottom and a small one on the top. I tried using this on different types of terrain and didn’t have any problem using it on any of them and the drink holder works great.
Its also foldable and has a little door you can unzip in the front so your cat can get into the stroller. The top cat however is out of luck and is going to have to climb. The privacy covers also work really well. The only thing that could be better with this carrier is the brakes could be red instead of black so they are more noticeable and the price isn’t the best. Otherwise there isn’t much to complain about with this stroller. Comes in silver/grey and red/violet. Click here for the chewy.com link.
9. Ibiyaya Noah All-Around Beach Wagon Cat & Dog Stroller
This is another great stroller that I personally like. You not only can fit your cats into it but you could use it as a child stroller if you have children as well. The top is also removable which is mostly mesh and it has a big handle you can push it around in. If you don’t like the mesh you can use the privacy covers to cover it. On the sides it also has stairs so your cats can jump in. You can also fold it up when you are done using it or you need to travel.
Some of the things I do not like about this stroller is the handle. I don’t like the design that much and would rather have a design where there are two metal bars attached to the carrier instead of one but its still a nice stroller nonetheless. I also don’t like the wheels too much. I feel they could be made better for different types of terrain but you can mainly roll it around on mostly everything. It comes in grey or black. Conclusion
If you think your cat is the right type of cat for a stroller then this is something that I would recommend getting them so they can do more then just sit inside all day long. Whatever design you go with you definitely won’t regret getting one of these strollers.
