A hotel is easy to get into if you need to stay the night but for a pet it can be a bit more complicated. Not all hotels welcome cats but if you need to take them to a hotel with you there are plenty of hotels that you could go to that welcome them at their establishment. There are however some conditions if you want them to stay however.

What Hotel Chains Allow Cats?

There are countless of hotels establishments that will allow your pets at a hotel. The website that I like to use to find hotels for my cats is https://www.petswelcome.com/. All you have to do is type in a location and it will tell you every hotel in that location that allows pets in their hotel or not and even if it cost extra to bring them or not.

Does Aloft Allow Cats?

Aloft Hotels allow both cats and dogs alike in most locations. They not only allow both cats and dogs but they do not charge extra to bring them into your room as well.

If they are well behaved you can also leave them in your room unattended. If your cats needs to use the bathroom they have a designated waste area so they can do there business.

What Hotels Allow Pets For Free?

If you are lucky you might run into a hotel that doesn’t charge you an extra fee to bring your cat in. Here are some chains that allow your cat into your room for free.

  • Aloft
  • Comfort Inn
  • InterContinental
  • Motel 6
  • Sheraton Grand

Extended Stay Hotels That Allow Cats

If you want to stay at one of these hotels and you need to bring your cat along there are some suites that allow you to do this. They include:

  • Candlewood Suites
  • Extended Stay America
  • MainStay Suites
  • Residence Inn
  • Staybridge Suites
  • Studio 6
  • Suburban Extended Stay

Before you book your room at any of these suites you should give them a call first just in case their rules happen to change.

Why Do Hotels Allow Dogs But Not Cats?

Some hotel establishments choose to not allow cats because there urine is stronger than dogs and can damage the carpets or other furniture in the rooms which will result in more costs to clean them.

If you want to read more about this issue and other reasons why they don’t allow cats I wrote an article about this here “Why Do Hotels Not Allow Cats?“.

Leaving Your Cat Alone in a Hotel Room

If you are in a hotel like Aloft they will allow you to leave them in your room unattended without any consequences. Some hotels may not allow you to do this so be sure to ask about this before you book your room or you unfortunately might be asked to leave if you break the rules.

If you want to do this you don’t want to leave them unattended for more than a half a day.

How to Hide a Cat In a Hotel Room

You generally don’t want to do this as you could potentially get potentially fined or worse banned for bringing your cat into a hotel that doesn’t allow them. If you have to for whatever reason you could do this by:

Keeping them inside of the bathroom: If you happen to see a hotel worker it gives you more time to hide them so they are less likely too se you have a cat.

Do Not Disturb Sign: Not all hotels allow you to do this but if you have the option to do so then the workers won’t be allowed in. If they can’t enter your room then they can’t see that you have a cat with you.

Things to Keep in Mind

Weight Limit: Before you book your room make sure you know the weight limit as this can vary from hotel to hotel. If your cat is too big they won’t be allowed to stay at that hotel.

Possible Fees: Some may still charge you based on location so make sure to ask before you decide to stay the night.

If your cat damages the room in some way such as the chairs, curtains carpet etc. then you might be have to pay a fee if your cat does this. You can prevent this by getting claw caps which prevents your cat from scratching anything in the room.

The ones by “VICTHY 140pcs Cat Nail Caps (click here for the amazon link)” do a great job at this. The only downfall with these is that they are applied with glue take about 2-6 weeks for your cat to naturally shed these off.

Make Sure Your Cat is Quiet: Hotel chains don’t like noisy pets and neither does the guests so if your cat is really loud they might not be allowed at the establishment.

Bring Your Own Supplies: Some hotels provide these for you but most of them do not. make sure to brings a litter box if you decide to stay there with your cat. Other things that you should bring include:

  • Litter
  • Food and water
  • Food and water dishes
  • Toys

Conclusion

If you know what you are doing, you read this entire guide and take all the precautions before staying the night getting a hotel for your cat can be easy to do. Just make sure to ask questions at the hotel before you book your room.
