Having a cat carrier is important when traveling but your food and water bowls are really important as well especially if you are going to be traveling for a while. A bowl just seems like a bowl for your cat to eat and drink out of but there are some of them that can make the process of giving your cat food and water a lot easier and more convenient while you are on the go and traveling to places.
Types Of Travel Bowls
There are a lot of great travel bowls you can go with but there are also a lot of types as well. These are generally non skid bowls. Here are some that are generally used to travel with.
Silicon Bowls
These are generally the most common that most people go with. They are made out of silicon and you can fold them up when your pet is done with them. Some of these have lids too which is a nice feature.
Disposable Bowls
These are a one time use bowl that you simply use and then throw away when your cat is done with it. You can generally get these in bulk and they are very cheap to get.
Nylon, Synthetic Fabric Bowls
These are great bowls to go with because of how durable that they are and you can zip them up in some cases. They come in tote bag sets in some cases so you have everything you need while you are on the go.
Stainless Steel Bowls
These are simple bowls that are made out of stainless steel and are great to go with since they are very durable. Some of them have tops that you can screw on so your pet can eat or drink the rest later.
Plastic Bowls
Plastic bowls are the most standard bowl that you can get for pets. Most of these are generally the same and some last longer than other depending on what you get.
Spill Proof Bowls
These are really useful when you are actually in a car or plane since the movement can cause spillage with regular bowls. I highly reccomend these types for water specifically
Twin Bowls
These is basically two bowls attached as one. Travel designed bowls like these are generally made out of silicone. They are useful because it makes everything more organized and you can fold them up when you are done with them.
1: Frisco Wet Food Container with Silicone Lid
Out of all the silicone bowls that I have used this one is my go to to use. Its a great size and you can put enough of food and water in it that’s ideal for when you are on the go. You also get a lid so you can put it in your bag and don’t have pour anything on the spot. I have used this thing for a long time and it still works just as well as I got it and hasn’t ripped.
It also comes with a clip so you can attach it to a bag or whatever you want to. Only con is that its non spill so it can get all over the place if you are in a moving car or something like that but great for any other use like hiking for example. It also comes in Teal and Grey. 2: EcoPetBox Disposable Pet Bowl
Not many companies make these kinds of bowls but out of all the ones that I have tried they are generally all the same. If I had to choose any brand however it would be these EcoPetBox bowls just because of the price. I also really like these because of the square shape. These hold 13.5 ounces of food or water. 3: Alfie Pet Collapsible Fabric Travel Bowl
If you like the idea of a fabric travel bow this Alfie pet bowl is probably best that I have tested. It comes with a zipper bag that you can put it in when you are done with it as well and it has a clip at the end which allow you to attach it to whatever you want when you are on the go.
The only thing about bowls like this is that you have to wash these very thoroughly or they will build up odor. I’ll usually put it in the washer and its usually fine or you could use dish liquid and water and let it soak for a while. It comes in orange/brown. 4: KONG Dog Travel Bag
When I am traveling this is the set that I use because it has everything that I need in one convenient package. You have two bowls to store cat food and then you have two other bowls to serve your food and water to your cats when they need to eat and drink and you can put it in this nice bag to keep everything organized.
The bag also has a mesh zipper pouch on the lid to keep other things and the inside is made out of the same material as the inside of the bowls. I also like that the bag has a strap though I wish it was more comfortable. Like the Alfie bowl you do need to wash it well or it will have the same odor problem like I mentioned before. Only con is that you do need to serve it rather than just open the containers. Click here to see the current price on chewy.com.
5: Frisco Travel Non-skid Stainless Steel Dog & Cat Bowl
Steel bowls aren’t exactly the best choice for a travel bowl but some of them can get the job done. This is the best one that I have tried for this use case. These are a 1.5 or 3 cup sized bowl and Its not only stainless steel but it has a top to keep liquid and food secure so you don’t have pour anything on the spot which is a huge plus when you are traveling.
Most disappointing thing about these bowls however is that the top isn’t twistable so you have to make sure to place it correctly in your bag so it doesn’t spill all over the place. Even worse I couldn’t find another company that fixed this problem. What I do is just secure it with tape and it works fine. So until that happens this is my ideal choice. 6: Kurgo Splash Free Wander Water Bowl
If your cat makes a mess with water or food these spill free bowls really help a lot get rid of the problem. The one I use is this one by Kurgo. I like this one because it has a wedge design that dips the bowl downward so it helps your cat drink a lot easier and the silicone material lasts a long time based off of one year of using these.
The only thing that I don’t like about these bowls is that it may not remove spillage completely though it does reduce it mostly. You can also get it in red or blue. Click here for the chewy.com link.
