If you are going on a hike or just need a way to carry your cat around for whatever reason such as your cat doesn’t really take a liking to being walked on a leash or you don’t really want to use a traditional carrier a cat backpack would be great thing to invest in. Here are some of the best options that you could go with.
Things to Look for in a Cat Backpack
If you want to best experience for your cat when you are using these backpacks here is what I look for in a cat backpack.
Air Holes and Mesh
Its really convenient to have these on your backpack because they can get hot inside of the bag. Having the holes on the backpack can make it easier for them to cool down and enjoy being in the backpack more.
Mesh is also nice to have since they can see outside of the bag and will add more of a cooling effect.
Weight Capacity
When you are getting a cat backpack most of these can only hold up to 10 pounds so you have to make sure that the backpack can support your cats weight. If your cat is too heavy for the backpack it can cause safety issues.
For instance if your cat weighs too much it could rip the bottom and your cat could run off. The straps on the backpack could also rip which is something you don’t want.

Harness Hook
This feature is really important. A lot of these bags have a hook that hooks onto your cat harness so they can’t escape the bag and go missing on you. If your bag does not have this feature I would not recommend using it.

Some Things to Consider
Cats are known to not like new things so as a result they hate moving around in bags like this and they have to be trained to enjoy the backpack most of the time. Your cat also may never get used to the backpack. It just depends on your cats personality.
How To Get Them Used To The Backpack
The best thing to do is let your cat explore the bag and let them get used to it being around the house. The bag will also start to smell like your home which will make the backpack more comfortable for them when they are traveling around in it.
If they won’t go in the bag leave things like toys or catnip inside of it and eventually they will find them and go inside of the backpack.
